Getting Ready To Use Flex Paste

What You Need

• Protective gloves, clothing and eye wear
• Cloth/rag or Paper towels
• Painters tape
• Plastic covering or tarp
• Flat head screwdriver

It’s a good idea to wear protective gloves, clothing, and eye wear. Clean off your work surface. It needs to be free of grease, oil and dirt.

Protect areas that you don’t want Flex Paste to ensure clean lines. You can use painter’s tape and a drop cloth or plastic to protect other surfaces.

Using a flat head screwdriver, remove the lid. You see that moisture-absorbing silica pack? Remove it, put it aside and save it!

Then carefully remove the protective foil. Put it aside and save it. You’re going to need both your foil and silica pack later. Keep them safe.

How do I apply Flex Paste?

What You Need

• Putty knife

With Flex Paste, there is no need to shake or stir, it’s already ready to go! Grab a putty knife, trowel or similar tool, and remove an even layer of material from the top of the tub. Don’t scoop too deep! Scooping too deep can cause air pockets that dry out the Flex Paste.

Apply a generous amount of paste to the surface using smooth even motions. It’s important to always allow each coat to dry before applying additional coats.

Remember to replace the protective foil as much as you can while working to prevent drying during application.

Can I apply Flex Paste on wet surfaces or underwater?

Yes, Flex Paste will work underwater and on wet surfaces. For best results, you may want to do some etching in order to increase adhesion. Also, you may need to apply a little extra Flex Paste when working underwater.

How long does it take for Flex Paste to dry?

Once Flex Paste is exposed to air or moisture or humidity it begins to cure, forming a skin within 15 to 30 minutes. Flex Paste FULLY cures within 24-48 hours.

Remember, it is very important to replace the protective foil as much as possible while you are working to keep your unused Flex Paste from drying out.

Flex Paste Helpful Hints

Spackle and joint compound require sanding, with Flex Paste light sanding is possible, but not recommended. Just smooth it to your desired finish, or add your own artistic texture. It’s all up to you!

Don’t wipe any excess Flex Paste on the inside of your container, because that could lead to drying. Before your next use, remember to remove any dry Flex Paste that may have dried, or skinned inside of the container.

How do I clean up Flex Paste?

Now that your project or repair is complete, it’s time to clean up. Make sure you don’t use water to clean uncured paste. Instead, use a clean dry cloth or paper towel.

Mineral spirits and acetone help speed up the process of cleaning your work area.

How do I store Flex Paste?

Remember that protective foil and silica pack? To prevent your Flex Paste from drying out, replace the protective foil by pressing it on the surface of the material. It is also very important to replace the silica pack too, to prevent Flex Paste from drying out.

Continue pressing outwards so the foil remains in constant contact with your Flex Paste. Make sure no air pockets have formed between the foil and the product.

Once you reach the edge of the tub, tuck the foil around the inside perimeter. Now replace the silica pack and secure the lid tightly.

To increase the life of your Flex Paste, store it in an air conditioned, humidity-controlled environment. Remember to remove any dry Flex Paste that may have formed on the inside of the container.

How do I use Flex Paste 9 oz cartridges?

Flex Paste 9 oz cartridges are designed for use in a caulk gun. Before loading into the caulk gun, be sure to follow the steps below.

1. Unscrew the cartridge tip.

2. Remove the nub with a sharp knife. Try not to remove any of the screw threads.

3. Cut the cartridge tip in the center or to your desired thickness.

4. Screw on the cartridge tip and you’re ready to go!
